Professor Hyuk-Jun Kwon Appointed

2017.09.05

As of September 1, Professor Hyuk-Jun Kwon joined us at the Department of Information and Communication Engineering.

Professor Kwon received his B. S. degree in mechanical engineering from Korea University in 2007 and his M. S. degree in mechanical engineering (MEMS) from KAIST in 2009.  Then he worked for two years with Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT).  During this time, he conducted research on next-generation displays such as reflective, MEMS, foldable, and 3D holographic displays.  In August 2015, he received his PhD degree with a designated emphasis in nanoscale science and engineering from University of California, Berkeley, where he spent another five months afterwards doing a postdoctoral fellowship.  Before starting working with us, for one and a half years until August this year, he worked for Lam Research, one of the largest semiconductor equipment companies.  His job here concerned research on future semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes.

Next-generation electrical devices, laser processing, flexible/wearable electronics and equipment are Professor Kwon’s main research interest.  He has more than 20 SCI(E) papers published with him as the first author, many of which with Advanced Functional Materials, Nano Research, and ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, well recognized journals in the field of Nano/Electrical Devices.  He also had the opportunity to present on his research at international conferences including MRS, ECS, SID and IDW.  20 patents, including three in the U. S., have been issued under his name.
