Professor Jae Ha Kung Appointed

2018.01.15

As of December 15, Professor Jae Ha Kung joined us in the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at DGIST.

Professor Kung received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, in 2010 and a M.S. degree in electrical engineering from KAIST, Daejon, Korea, in 2012. He received a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, in 2017. His thesis deals with the design methodology and the architecture development of digital accelerators on learning complex systems, e.g. machine learning or scientific computing. Prior to joining DGIST, he worked at POSTECH, Pohang, Korea, as a postdoctoral researcher for six months. As a research scientist, he continued the research on developing highly-efficient hardware accelerator for deep learning.

His current research interests are the design of energy-efficient deep learning hardware accelerators, the design of high-performance hardware accelerators for scientific computing, and low-power hardware design methodology. He published more than 20 international journals/conferences, which include major IEEE journals in the field of VLSI design (IEEE TCAD, IEEE TVLSI, IEEE TETC, IEEE TCPMT). Also, he presented his work at top international conferences including ISCA, DAC, ISLPED, etc. as a lead author.
