The paper by DGIST graduate student, Jiwoon Ahn, under the supervision of Prof. Suha Kwak, won the bronze prize at the 24th Samsung HumanTech Paper Award. The Saumsung HumanTech Paper Award is an annual academic competition held by Saumsung Electronics since 1994 to discover and foster outstanding individuals in science and techonology. The paper proposes a novel Deep Neural Network that learns the semantic affinity between a pair of adjacvent image coordinates given image-level class labels for semantic segmentation. A model with this module outperforms previous state-of-the-arts trained under the same level of supervision in accuracy.
